Estée Lauder Staff Canteen Refurbishment in Petersfield
Location: Estee lauder Co- Petersfield
Building Type: Retail Commercial Building
Project Duration: 4 Weeks
Background
The existing facility no longer reflected the standards expected across the site, and the client was keen to introduce a design that combined practicality with a more contemporary, premium feel in keeping with the wider Estée Lauder brand.
The project called for bespoke joinery throughout, along with careful integration of servery units, vending equipment, and communal seating areas within a relatively compact footprint.
Bespoke Canteen Fit-Out and Commercial Joinery Works
The scope of works included the design, manufacture, and installation of a curved, timber-clad servery counter to house a coffee machine and associated catering equipment, along with bespoke run of low-level cabinetry finished in a dark, durable laminate. A feature worktop was incorporated with circular waste disposal cut-outs, allowing staff to dispose of food waste directly into concealed bins below.
Full-height wall panelling was installed throughout the space, combining vertical timber slatting with dark upper panels to create a warm yet contemporary finish. Recessed housings were built into the joinery to neatly accommodate microwaves, keeping worktops clear and maintaining a clean, uncluttered appearance.
Bespoke high-level bar tables and standard dining tables were manufactured to suit the space, finished with a light oak-effect surface to complement the wall panelling and flooring. Provision was also made within the joinery layout for vending machines to be integrated cleanly into the wall line, avoiding a cluttered or disjointed appearance.
Delivering the Petersfield Workplace Canteen Refurbishment
Works were carried out in close coordination with the Estée Lauder facilities team to minimise disruption to the day-to-day running of the site. All bespoke joinery elements, including the curved servery unit and wall panelling, were manufactured off-site before being installed and fitted in position, ensuring a high standard of finish and accuracy.
Particular attention was paid to detailing around the curved servery structure, requiring precise setting out and jointing of the timber slats to achieve a smooth, continuous curve. Integration of mechanical and electrical elements, including ceiling-mounted air conditioning units, lighting, and wall-mounted digital screens, was carefully managed to work around the new joinery without compromising the overall design intent.
Flooring, ceiling finishes, and planting features were coordinated alongside the joinery installation to deliver a cohesive finished space.
A Modern Staff Canteen with a Premium Workplace Finish
The completed canteen now provides Estée Lauder staff with a bright, modern, and functional space for breaks and informal meetings. The bespoke joinery, including the curved servery counter and integrated cabinetry, forms a strong focal point within the room while also providing practical storage and equipment housing.
The combination of timber slat panelling, dark cabinetry, and warm flooring has created a cohesive and premium finish throughout, while the mix of high-level and standard seating areas offers flexibility for different groups and uses. The finished space successfully balances the practical demands of a working canteen with a design standard that reflects the wider Estée Lauder brand.
